Reel Movie Pitch: Steven!

In a new blog I will be making a movie pitch to no-one in particular (unless you are a studio person who thinks this would be a good idea). The point is to get my creative juices flowing and have some fun with some movie ideas that would make a ton of money at the box office if anybody would ever listen to me. Thanks to Brad for designing the amazing poster, remember this is just for fun, so enjoy!

The first movie to get the Reel Nerd treatment is…Steven! a romantic comedy.

Starring: Kevin Kline: Steven Morrison

Robert Downey Jr: Blake St. James

Tom Hanks: Senator Marcus Johnston

Anna Kendrick: Lucy Walton

Plot: Steven Morrison has just won his party’s Presidential nomination (not important what party, we don’t want to make a political statement). And now he is ready to reveal his biggest secret! After his wife died in a tragic plane crash, Steven spent some time alone. When one night he met the fun and flamboyant bar owner Blake St. James. They soon became close friends and then became lovers.

Fearing that it would cost him his job as an Ohio Governor, Steven kept his relationship a secret. With the help of his trusty aide, Lucy Walton, it never became an issue.

Now that he is about to accept a Presidential nomination he feels it’s his obligation to tell the American people the truth. And he does. Most people are supportive, but there is a faction of the Senate lead by Marcus Johnston to strip Steven of his nomination.

I decided to make this movie pitch out of a joke about what movies I like seeing Kevin Kline in. (In and Out, Dave). So I combined the two to make a movie about one of the biggest issues we face today, gay rights. The movie would have funny moments mixed in with some serious issues we face today. I hope you have fun reading this and stay tuned for my next Reel Movie Pitch: Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash!
